An Invitation to the Devas
Samantā
cakkavālesu From
around the galaxies may the
Atragacchantu
devatā devas
come here. May they listen to the
Saddhammaṃ
muni-rajassa True Dhamma
of the King of Sages,
Sunantu
saga-mokkhadhaṃ Leading to
heaven & emancipation.
Sagge
kāme ca rūpe Those
in the heavens of sensuality &
Giri-sikharatate
c’antalikkhe vimāne form, On peaks
& mountain precipices,
Dīpe
ratthe ca gāme in
palaces floating in the sky, in islands
Taruvana-gahane
geha-vatthumhi khette. Countries,
& towns, In groves of trees &
Thickets,
around homesites & fields.
Bhummā
cayantu devā And the earth-devas, spirits,
Jala-thala-visame
yakkha-gandhabba-nagā heavenly minstrels, & nagas. In water,
Titthantā
santike yaṃ on
land, in badlands, & nearby: May
Muni-vara-vacanaṃ
sādhavo me sunantu. They come & listen with approval.
As
I recite the word of the excellentSage.

ayam-bhadanta. This
is the time to listen to the Dhamma,
Dhammassavana-kālo
ayam-bhadanta. Venerable
Sirs, This is the time to listen
Dhammassavana-kālo
ayamk-bhadanta. To
the Dhamma, Severable sirs. This is the time to listen to the
Dhamma,
Venerable
Sirs.
