อานิสงส์มหาสติปัฏฐาน ๔   :  Phalaṃ : Assurance of attainment

1 Yo hi koci, bhikkhave, ime cattāro                            Indeed,Monks, whoever is practicing these
Satipatthāne evaṃ bhāveyya                                        Four Foundations of Mindfulness for seven
Satta  vassāni,                                                                   years,
tassa dvinnaṃ phalānaṃ                                                he can expect one of two results – the
aññātaraṃ phalaṃ                                                             Highnes Knowledge, here and now,
pāṭikaṅkhaṃ,                                                                     or if he there will be
diṭṭheva dhamme aññā;                                                   a residual clinging, the state of
sati vā upādisese anāgamitā.                                        The Non-Returner.

2 Tiṭṭhantu, bhikkhave, satta                                          Monks, let alone
Vassāni,                                                                               seven years,
Yo hi koci, bhikkhave, ime                                               Should any person practice
Cattāro satipaṭṭhāne evaṃ bhāveyya                          this Four Foundation of Mindfulness,
Cha vassāni,                                                                       in this way, for six years.
Tassa dvinnaṃ phalānaṃ aññataraṃ                          then he can expect one of the two results-
Phalaṃ pātikaṅkhaṃ,                                                      the Highest Knowledge, here and now, or if
Diṭṭheva dhamme aññā; sati vā                                     there still be a residual clinging, the state of
Upādisese anagāmitā.                                                     the Non-Returner.

3 Tiṭṭhantu, bhikkheve, cha vassami,                          Monks, let alone
Yo hi koci, bhikkhave, ime cattāro                                six years, should any person practise
Satipaṭṭhāne evaṃ bhāveyya                                        these Four Foundation of Mindfulness,
Pañca vassāni,                                                                  for five years,
Tassa dvinnaṃ phalānaṃ aññataraṃ                          then he can expect one of the two results-
Phalaṃ pātikaṅkhaṃ,                                                      the Highest Knowledge, here and now, or if
Diṭṭheva dhamme aññā;                                                   there still be a residual clinging, the state of
Sati vā upādisese anāgāmitā.                                        the Non-Returner

4 Tiṭṭhantu, bhikkhave, cattāri vassāni.                      Monks, let alone
Yo hi koci, bhikkhave, ime cattāro                                five years, should any person practise
Satipaṭṭhāne evaṃ bhāveyya cattāri                           these Four Foundation of Mindfulness,
Vassāni,                                                                               for  four years,
Tassa dvinnaṃ phalānaṃ aññataraṃ                          then he can expect one of the two results-
Phalaṃ pāṭikaṅkhaṃ,                                                      the Highest Knowledge, here and now, or if
Diṭṭheva dhamme aññā;                                   there still be a residual clinging, the state of
Sati vā upādisese anāgāmitā.                                        the Non-Returner

5  Tiṭṭhantu, bhikkhave, cattāri vassāni,                     Monks, let alone  four years,
Yo hi koci, bhikkhave, ime cattāro                                Should any person practice these
satipaṭṭhāne evaṃ bhāveyya                                         Four Foundation of mindfulness
 tīni vassāni,                                                                        for  three years,
 Tassa dvinnaṃ phalānaṃ aññataraṃ                         then he can expect one of the two results-
Phalaṃ pāṭikaṅkhaṃ,                                                      the Highest Knowledge, here and now, or if
Diṭṭheva dhamme aññā;                                   there still be a residual clinging, the state of
Sati vā upādisese anāgāmitā.                                        the Non-Returner.

6 Tiṭṭhantu, bhikkhave, tīni vassāni.                            Monks, let alone three years,
Yo hi koci,bhikkhave, ime cattāro                 Should any person practice these
Satipaṭṭhāne evaṃ bhāveyya                                        Four Foundation of mindfulness
dve vassāni,                                                                        for two years,
Tassa dvinnaṃ phalānaṃ aññataraṃ                          then he can expect one of the two results-
Phalaṃ pāṭikaṅkhaṃ,                                                      the Highest Knowledge, here and now, or if
Diṭṭheva dhamme aññā;                                   there still be a residual clinging, the state of
Sati vā upādisese anāgāmitā.                                        the Non-Returner.

7 Tiṭṭhantu, bhikkhave, dve vassāni.                           Monks, let alone two years,
Yo hi koci, bhikkhave, ime cattāro                                Should any person practice these
Satipaṭṭhāne evaṃ bhāveyya                                        Four Foundation of mindfulness
Ekaṃ vassaṃ,                                                                   for one year,
Tassa dvinnaṃ phalānaṃ aññataraṃ                          then he can expect one of the two results-
Phalaṃ pāṭikaṅkhaṃ,                                                      the Highest Knowledge, here and now, or if
Diṭṭheva dhamme aññā;                                   there still be a residual clinging, the state of
Sati vā upādisese anāgāmitā.                                        the Non-Returner.
               
8  Tiṭṭhantu, bhikkhave,ekaṃ vassaṃ.                       Monks, let alone one year,
Yo hi koci,bhikkhave, ime cattāro                                 Should any person practice these
satipaṭṭhāne evaṃ bhāveyya                                         Four Foundation of mindfulness
satta māsā-ni,                                                                     seven months,
Tassa dvinnaṃ phalānaṃ aññataraṃ                          then he can expect one of the two results-
Phalaṃ pāṭikaṅkhaṃ,                                                      the Highest Knowledge, here and now, or if
Diṭṭheva dhamme aññā;                                   there still be a residual clinging, the state of
Sati vā upādisese anāgāmitā.                                        the Non-Returner.

9 Tiṭṭhantu, bhikkhave, satta māsāni.                         Monks, let alone seven months,
Yo hi koci, bhikkhave, ime cattāro                                Should any person practice these
satipaṭṭhāne evaṃ bhāveyya                                         Four Foundation of mindfulness
cha māsāni.                                                                         For six months,
Tassa dvinnaṃ phalānaṃ aññataraṃ                          then he can expect one of the two results-
Phalaṃ pāṭikaṅkhaṃ,                                                      the Highest Knowledge, here and now, or if
Diṭṭheva dhamme aññā;                                   there still be a residual clinging, the state of
Sati vā upādisese anāgāmitā.                                        the Non-Returner.

10 Tiṭṭhantu,bhikkhave,cha māsāni.                            Monks, let alone six months,                        
Yo hi koci, bhikkhave, ime cattāro                                Should  any person practice these
Satipaṭṭhāne evaṃ bhāveyya                                        Four Foundation of mindfulness
pañca māsāni,                                                                    for five months,
Tassa dvinnaṃ phalānaṃ aññataraṃ                          then he can expect one of the two results-
Phalaṃ pāṭikaṅkhaṃ,                                                      the Highest Knowledge, here and now, or if
Diṭṭheva dhamme aññā;                                   there still be a residual clinging, the state of
Sati vā upādisese anāgāmitā.                                        the Non-Returner.

11 Tiṭṭhantu, bhikkhave, pañca māsāni.                     Monks, let alone five months,
Yo hi koci, bhikkhave,ime cattāro                 Should  any person practice these
Satipaṭṭhāne evaṃ bhāveyya                                        Should  any person practice these
cattāri māsāni.                                                                    For four months,
Tassa dvinnaṃ phalānaṃ aññataraṃ                          then he can expect one of the two results-
Phalaṃ pāṭikaṅkhaṃ,                                                      the Highest Knowledge, here and now, or if
Diṭṭheva dhamme aññā;                                   there still be a residual clinging, the state of
Sati vā upādisese anāgāmitā.                                        the Non-Returner.

12 Tiṭṭhantu, bhikkhave, cattāri māsāni.                     Monks, let alone
Yo hi koci, bhikkhave, ime cattāro                                Should  any person practice these
Satipaṭṭhāne evaṃ bhāveyya                                        Four Foundation of mindfulness
Tīni māsāni,                                                                         three months,
Tassa dvinnaṃ phalānaṃ aññataraṃ                          then he can expect one of the two results-
Phalaṃ pāṭikaṅkhaṃ,                                                      the Highest Knowledge, here and now, or if
Diṭṭheva dhamme aññā;                                   there still be a residual clinging, the state of
Sati vā upādisese anāgāmitā.                                        the Non-Returner.

13 Tiṭṭhantu, bhikkhave, tīni māsāni.                           Monks, let alone three months,
Yo hi koci, bhikkhave, ime cattāro                                Should  any person practice these
Satipaṭṭhāne evaṃ bhāveyya                                        Four Foundation of mindfulness
Dve māsāni,                                                                        two months,
Tassa dvinnaṃ phalānaṃ aññataraṃ                          then he can expect one of the two results-
Phalaṃ pāṭikaṅkhaṃ,                                                      the Highest Knowledge, here and now, or if
Diṭṭheva dhamme aññā;                                   there still be a residual clinging, the state of
Sati vā upādisese anāgāmitā.                                        the Non-Returner.
               
14 Tiṭṭhantu, bhikkhave, dve māsāni.                          Monks, let alone two months,
Yo hi koci, bhikkhave, ime cattāro                                Should  any person practice these
Satipaṭṭhāne evaṃ bhāveyya                                        Four Foundation of mindfulness
Ekaṃ māsaṃ,                                                                    for one month,
Tassa dvinnaṃ phalānaṃ aññataraṃ                          then he can expect one of the two results-
Phalaṃ pāṭikaṅkhaṃ,                                                      the Highest Knowledge, here and now, or if
Diṭṭheva dhamme aññā;                                   there still be a residual clinging, the state of
Sati vā upādisese anāgāmitā.                                        the Non-Returner.

15 Tiṭṭhantu, bhikhhave, ekaṃ masaṃ.                      Monks, let alone one month,
Yo hi koci, bhikkhave, ime cattāro                                Should  any person practice these
Satipaṭṭhāne evaṃ bhāveyya                                         Four Foundation of mindfulness
aḍḍhamāsaṃ,                                                                     for half-a-month,
Tassa dvinnaṃ phalānaṃ aññataraṃ                          then he can expect one of the two results-
Phalaṃ pāṭikaṅkhaṃ,                                                      the Highest Knowledge, here and now, or if
Diṭṭheva dhamme aññā;                                   there still be a residual clinging, the state of
Sati vā upādisese anāgāmitā.                                        the Non-Returner.

16 Tiṭṭhantu, bhikkhave,aḍḍhamāsaṃ.                       Monks, let alone half-a-mont,
Yo hi koci, bhikkhave, ime cattāro                                Should  any person practice these
Satipaṭṭhāne evaṃ bhāveyya                                        Four Foundation of mindfulness
Sattāhaṃ;                                                                            sevem days,
Tassa dvinnaṃ phalānaṃ aññataraṃ                          then he can expect one of the two results-
Phalaṃ pāṭikaṅkhaṃ,                                                      the Highest Knowledge, here and now, or if
Diṭṭheva dhamme aññā;                                   there still be a residual clinging, the state of
Sati vā upādisese anāgāmitā.                                        the Non-Returner.

 Ekāyano ayaṃ, bhikkhave, maggo                             Because of this, it was said, ‘This is the
sattānaṃ visuddhiyā,                                                       Sole Path for the purification of beings, for
sokaparidevānaṃ samatikkamāya                              overcoming of sorrow and lamentation, for
dukkhadomanassānaṃ                                                   the disappearance of pain and grief, for
atthaṅgamāya ñāyassa adhigamaya                           reaching the Noble Path, for the
nibbānassa sacchikiriyāya yadidaṃ                            realization of Nibbāna, namely, the Four
cattāro satipaṭṭhāna’ ti.                                                    Foundations of Mindfulness.

Iti yan taṃ vuttaṃ                                                              Thus spoke
idametaṃ paṭicca vuttan ‘ ti.                                          the Blessed One.
                                 
Idamvoca  Bhagavā.                                                         Having spoken,
Attamanā te bhikkhū Bhagavato                   Glad in Their hearts,these monks, welcomed
Bhāsitaṃ abhinandun ‘ ti.                                                The words of the Blessed One.
จบมหาสติปัฏฐานสูตร   :  Mahasatipaṭṭhanasuttaṃ niṭṭhitaṃ.
